Choose the correct complaint type
BetStop distinguishes dissatisfaction with the administration or operation of the register from an alleged breach by a wagering provider. Examples of possible breach reports include being allowed to gamble or open an account while excluded, receiving promotional material, an account not being closed, credit not being refunded, or self-exclusion information being disclosed inappropriately.
Build the timeline before submitting
Keep the BetStop registration confirmation and period, the exact provider and domain, account identifier, dates of access or marketing, screenshots with timestamps, account-balance records and any provider reply. Describe only what was observed. A successful login is different from a placed wager, and a marketing message is different from an account-closure problem.
What BetStop says it will do
For a complaint about BetStop's own administration or operation, the published process says it will acknowledge the complaint within three business days and resolve it within 28 days where possible. If it cannot do so, it says it will explain why and identify other options. These are service commitments, not promises that a complainant will receive a particular outcome.
Review and ACMA referral
If dissatisfied with the initial investigation, a person may request a review. BetStop says it will respond in writing within 28 days. If the review remains unsatisfactory, the complainant may ask for referral to ACMA. Alleged breaches of register obligations must be referred to ACMA for regulatory consideration, and ACMA may seek more evidence.
Privacy and anonymity
BetStop permits anonymous complaints but explains that anonymity can make an investigation difficult. Its process also says ACMA may disclose complaint information to third parties, including the subject of a complaint, when investigating. Avoid including irrelevant medical, financial or identity documents; submit only what supports the issue through the official channel.
Immediate protection is separate
A complaint review takes time. If an account appears accessible, do not gamble to test it. Remove saved payment methods, block marketing where possible and contact Gambling Help Online if the event is creating an urge to gamble. Call 000 if someone is in immediate danger.
